Evelyn J Dearth, 90, Culver, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Culver.

Evelyn was was born on April 27, 1927 in Oak Park, Ill., one of four children born to Luther and Lula Mae (Holmes) Shepherd. After graduating from Harper High School she fell in love and married George J. Dearth, the boy from down the street.  George then entered the military.

After his discharge, they moved to Gary to start a family together. They raised two daughters, Georgena and Vickie.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter Georgena (Pat) Dacey of Valparaiso and grandson Jeffrey Dacey of Lake Station. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter Vickie.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Ill. at 1 p.m. CST. Interment will follow.
