Grace Harriers Ninth At NCCAA Championships
JACKSON, Miss. – The Grace College cross country team wrapped up its 2017 season at the NCCAA National Championships on Saturday.
Both the men and women placed ninth out of 13 squads in the national tournament.
Ben Rankin was the highest-ranking Lancer, placing 31st out of 97 runners in a time of 27:26.
Freshman Elijah Brooks was the second runner for the men at 27:55, and Sam Hall (28:13) and Brendan Hamilton (28:32) were not far behind.
Drew Jones crossed the finish line in 28:47, and John Marhefka and Tim Drew rounded out the team’s representation.
On the women’s side, the six women finished in a tight pack separated by 31 seconds. Karla Singer was the lead runner for the Lady Lancers with a 45th-place finish of 20:30.
Emma Mitchell (20:49) and Suzanne Sickafoose (20:51) were just two seconds apart, and Aubrey Breininger was three seconds back.
Liz Fox and McCalah Mast crossed the finish line in identical times of 21:01.
