Olive Jane (Phillips) Swank, 90, Ligonier, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at her residence. Olive was born on March 21, 1927 in Defiance County, Ohio, to Asher B. and Edith (Criswell) Phillips. On Aug. 1, 1942 she married Harold R. Swank who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children: Violet (Tom) Ley, Ron (Ilene), Don (Loretta), Paul (Lisa), David (Cindy), Karen (Marlin) Whitlock, Shirley Swank. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, as well as great-great-grandchildren.

Olive was a long-time resident of Ligonier and a member of Trinity Assembly of God church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and fishing. Her greatest passion was spending time with her family and serving her Lord. Olive was known as Grandma to everyone. Over the years she did a little bit of everything. Olive will be greatly missed by many.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, H. Ray Jr., 3 grandsons, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.

A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4,at Trinity Assembly of God Church – 1288 W Union St, Ligonier, IN 46767. Pastor Jeffrey Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier, IN.
