Practice Interviews   

• Mondays, Nov. 6-27 / 11 a.m. to noon

The Goodwill Warsaw Career Center will host open mock interviews for anyone who wants to practice their interview skills. If you’re nervous about having an interview, or struggling to land a job because of the interview phase, these mock interviews will prepare you for the types of questions that could be asked in an interview, from basic and personal questions, to how to highlight your skills during the conversation. Please drop by between 11 a.m. to noon to practice your interview skills and receive a 25 percent discount coupon to the Goodwill retail store.

Veteran Military Stand Down with a Heart

Wednesday, Nov. 8 / 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Goodwill and its partners have organized a Military Veteran stand down 1-6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8.  The event will be held in Warsaw at the Center Lake Pavilion, 119 E. Canal Street.  Veterans will receive information on employment and housing opportunities, details pertaining to Department of Veterans Affairs benefits, health care, dental care, free personal care items, free clothing, care kits, backpacks, transportation to and from the event, legal assistance, free dinner and more. To receive these benefits please bring a DD214 or a Military ID. Families are welcome to attend also.

During the Vietnam War, a stand down was a time away from the battlefield when soldiers could rest from combat and take care of personal hygiene, eat warm meals, receive medical and dental care and enjoy the camaraderie of battle buddies in a safe environment.

Today a stand down refers to a community-based intervention event that integrates, at one site and at one time, many resources and services that homeless or at-risk veteran and military families may need.

Introduction to Excel

• Thursday, Nov. 9 and Wednesday, Nov. 15 / 11 a.m. to noon

Introduction to Excel is a two-class event that will guide people through several tutorials on Excel’s basic functions and tools. The class will cater to both those seeking introductory Excel knowledge, as well as those who want to further their Excel abilities. The class will cover Excel’s essential tools, and work our way up to formatting and designing a standard spreadsheet with information.

Veterans Employment Services                                                              

• Wednesday, Nov. 15 / 10 a.m. to noon

Daniel Reed from WorkOne will be at the Goodwill Career Center to provide information to veterans on services in the local area, one-on-one employment help and employer resources, info on benefits and contacts for further services.

Retrieving Passwords & E-mail Recovery

• Tuesday, Nov. 14 and Thursday, Nov. 16 / 11 a.m. to noon

Learn how to set-up or access your e-mail and create an account recovery using your cell phone or another e-mail account.  You’ll also learn the best places to store passwords so you don’t lose them. This workshop is designed to get you organized, accessed, and backed up.

Coffee & Conversation

• Tuesdays, Nov. 21 and 28 / 11 to noon

Stop in and grab a cup of coffee and discuss anything career related with our staff. The Career Center can guide you in the right direction towards a possible career path, part-time side work, volunteer opportunities or simply provide you with motivation to take the next step in your life.
