North Webster Town Council Buys New Police Car
NORTH WEBSTER — North Webster Town Council voted to approve the purchase of a new police car to replace a 2006 model at its meeting Tuesday evening, Oct. 17, at the North Webster Community Center.
The low bid was submitted by Kerlin Motor Co., Silver Lake, for $23,799.46. The new vehicle will replace a Ford Crown Victoria according to Police Chief Greg Church.
Church also announced trick or treat hours for the town of North Webster are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Upon the advice of Town Attorney Jack Birch, council tabled the sewer ordinance amendment as it was felt the current ordinance already covered an existing situation. However, Birch will do more research at the request of Utilities Manager Mike Noe in case any others arise in the future.
Noe’s report included the information leaf pick up for town residents will begin Thursday, Oct. 19, and continue until Saturday, Dec. 9. The North Shore lift station repairs will be done by the end of this week and dumpsters are needed for old sludge that has been accumulating. Council gave approval to the cost of $600 each plus weight cost.
North Webster Park Board Secretary Tammy Waliczek said one quote has been received for the roof replacement and the storage area and another is expected. The Harold Zeigler Park Pavilion has been brought up to code following its inspection by the Division of Fire and Building Safety, Homeland Security. Outlets have been weatherized and other minor violations have been easily remedied. North Webster Town Park has been closed for the season.
Church noted there were 256 calls of service for the police department during September. The most frequent were traffic related and citizen assists. Officers worked 733 hours, drove 3,278 miles and used 274.9 gallons of fuel.
Attending the meeting were Church, Birch, Noe, Tammy Waliczek, Clerk-Treasurer Betsy Luce and council members Jon Sroufe, Lisa Strombeck and David Waliczek. The next meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at the North Webster Community Center, 301 N. Main St.
