KOSCIUSKO — Kosciusko Leadership Academy recently met at the Otis R. Bowen Center corporate office. The cadets heard briefly from former cadets and current Bowen Center employees Tim Nussbaum,1995; Paul Dausman, 2016; and Ted Westerhof, 2014.  Rob Parker from the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce also addressed the group regarding a potential white paper project idea.

Allyn Decker led the session entitled “understanding your personality preferences and leadership style”. This particular session focused on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator assessment is a tool that is frequently used by employers to help employees understand their leadership style and to help improve self-awareness. 

The cadets were guided through each of the four preference scales to determine which ones they felt described them best.  Once all four preferences were determined, the final result indicated the cadets’ preference type. Cadets were then matched up with fellow cadets that had the same type on the Myers-Briggs type indicator to discuss the positives and potential negatives of their preference types and share with the group. 

The Myers-Briggs type indicator is a great tool for helping current and future leaders develop their strengths and gain better understanding of interpersonal relationships whether in the workplace or at home.

KLA’s next session will meet on Oct. 10, at the Warsaw Police Department.
