Verda Mae (Boyer) Miles, 84, Port Saint Lucie, Fla., passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2017, at the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Fla.

She was born August 30, 1933 in Packerton to William H. and Rose L. (Shand) Boyer. She graduated from Chili High School in Chili in 1951. She attended Northern Virginia Institute of Cosmetology in Vienna, Va. and was a licensed cosmetologist. She was an office manager for several propane companies in Indiana and Virginia. She worked at QVC in Port St. Lucie for ten years and retired in 2010.

Verda enjoyed her family, her church and sewing dresses for the children of Haiti through a project sponsored by the Port St. Lucie First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughter: Mary A. Slone and her husband, Ron of Port Saint Lucie; five grandchildren: Michael Jackson of Warsaw, Heather Phillips of Quincy, Fla., Ron A. Slone and his wife, Liz of Camp LeJeune, N.C., Charles Slone and his wife, Kimberly of Warsaw, and Tony Slone and his wife Beth of Warsaw; ten great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; one nephew: Phillip Woodling, of Mishawaka; and two nieces: Marsha Smith and RoseAnn Rhodes of Convoy, Ohio.

Verda was preceded in death by her parents, brother William Boyer, sisters Mary Leoda Boyer and Maxine Woodling, nephews Bruce Woodling and David Boyer, and great-great- grandson Ronald A. Slone, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday Oct. 7 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, 335 S. Chippewa Street, Roann, with Pastor Bill Bussard officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, North Manchester.
