KOSCIUSKO — Kosciusko County officials are currently investigating a motor vehicle traffic crash on US 30, west of CR 350W in Kosciusko County. The male driver of a vehicle sustained fatal injuries in the crash overnight.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded this morning at approximately 1:45 a.m. to a reported disabled vehicle in the roadway on US 30 near CR 350W in Kosciusko County. Deputies upon arrival found the disabled vehicle had been struck in the roadway by a semi traveling east. The crash involved an eastbound white 2015 Volvo and a stationary 2016 Nissan in the eastbound lane. According to statements from the driver of the Volvo and a witness at the scene, the vehicle was difficult to observe approaching the stopped vehicle during the nighttime conditions.

The operator of 2016 Nissan was identified as Louis Doty, 75, from Paris, Ky. Doty was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office. The driver of the 2015 Volvo was identified as Eugeni Zhogonov, 56, of Aventura, Fla. Zhogonov was uninjured in the crash.

Officers stated that the crash is still currently under investigation.  The Kosciusko County Fatal Team was assisted at the scene by members of the Atwood Fire Department, Lutheran EMS, the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
