NorthWood Sports Wrap: Sept. 19
Volleyball
The NorthWood volleyball team picked up a 3-0 conference win at Goshen.
The Panthers topped the hosts 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 in the Northern Lakes Conference match.
Haylee Pennington powered the offense for the Red Slam as the senior put down a team-high 13 kills in the win.
Maddy Payne continued her strong play with 11 kills for the Panthers. Whitney Gessinger had three aces and Kennedy Wiens and Kenzie Moren two each.
Gessinger led the defense with 14 digs and senior standout Wiens was right behind with 13. Courtney Lengacher had 37 assists.
NorthWood beat Goshen 25-10, 25-20 in the junior varsity match.
Kate Rulli had six kills and Riley Graber five for the winners. Ali Knepp, Rulli and Grace Knisely each had three aces. Kendal Miller had seven digs and Knepp and Alea Minnich each had five digs. Rulli had two blocks and Graber and Bre Wise one each. Caroline Mullet had 18 assists.
NorthWood hosts Northridge in conference play Thursday night.
Cross Country
The NorthWood girls cross country team beat Goshen and Elkhart Memorial.
The Panthers closed out the conference regular season by topping the two foes to finish 5-2 in league action.
Erica Stutsman led NorthWood as she placed second overall to Morgan Dyer of Memorial.
Whitney Wolfe was fifth and Kate Jarvis sixth for the Panthers. Jennifer Martinez was eighth overall and Breanne Resler nine for NorthWood.
NorthWood will compete next Tuesday in the Elkhart Christian Academy Invitational. The NLC Meet is Sept. 30 at Ox Bow Park.
