Boys Soccer
Manchester brought its potent offense to Winona Lake and barnstormed LCA, 6-3, Tuesday afternoon.
The Squires peppered LCA keeper Remington Swanson with 32 shots and 18 on target. Three of those shots made it into the net, and the Squires took that lead into the half. LCA would fall down 4-0 before getting on the board with a Parker Stewart goal, and then another from Stewart. Manchester got one back before Stewart notched the hat trick. The Squires found the net late to double up the Cougars.
Isaiah Davis led the Squires with the hat trick.
Garrett McCoomb and Mark McQuade each had assists on the Stewart goals. Swanson would make 12 saves for the Cougars.
LCA falls to 5-8 overall and will look forward to a match at Tippecanoe Valley on Thursday.
Volleyball
The Lady Cougars rolled against Howe Military, winning 25-11, 25-15, 25-14.
Kyla Kohler paced LCA with 10 assists, five kills and four aces. Cami Dahms had 11 aces, Kenzie Burns added six kills and five digs, and Heather Plastow had seven digs.
LCA is 5-7 overall and plays Thursday at home against Canterbury.
Girls Soccer
LCA lost to Fort Wayne Fusion, 4-3, Tuesday evening in Fort Wayne.
The Lady Cougars got goals from Tori Calizo, Anna Reimink and Lauren Starrett. Calizo got hers in the first half, while Starrett and Reimink put theirs home in the second half, Reimink’s tied the match in the second half. The Fusion put home the gamewinner in the final minute of the match.
“Our team has greatly improved since the start of the season,” stated LCA head coach Nat Raber. “We played Fusion on our first game of the season and lost 7-1. Our team was in it. We really missed Cristel Reyes who has an ankle injury tonight. She helps calm the middle of the field.
“I am very happy with the fight our girls showed tonight. Coming back from two goals down to tie the game and take a team to the wire the beat us soundly is definitely something to build on.”
LCA is 3-5 on the season and will travel to Bremen on Thursday.
