
Marvin Lee Snyder, 81, Argos, died at 1:07 p.m., Sept. 18, 2017, at the South Bend Hospice House, South Bend. Marvin had been in declining health for the past couple of years.
On March 5, 1936 in Kewanna, he was born to Alpheus “Al” Snyder and Mary Fern (Pasco) Snyder. Marvin lived most of his life in the Argos community.
On June 3, 1956 at the Santa Anna United Methodist Church, Argos, Indiana he married Nyla Jane Irwin. She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2016. Marvin worked for Coca-Cola in Plymouth for 58 years. Having been a route driver he got the nickname “Bottles.” He finished his time at Coca-Cola in Maintenance. Nyla and Marvin owned the Dragon Den – Pizza Parlor from 1976 – 1979
He attended Green Township and Argos High School. Marvin was a member of the Argos Lions Club and had received a 50 year award; he was a member of the Plymouth Moose Lodge. In 1966, he became a member of the Marshall County Sheriff Posse. Each member was a commissioned Deputy Sheriff and was on call day and night. Marvin enjoyed collecting Coca-Cola, Roy Rogers, and John Deere memorabilia.
Marvin is survived by his daughter, Laurinda (Charles) Taylor, Plymouth; his son-in-law, LeeRoy Bennet, Argos; grandchildren: MarLanna Howell, Travis Howell, Joshua VanVactor, LeeAnna Dowd, Christine Bennett; 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Jo Allyson (Dick) Schaden; Mae Swigart and his brother, Paul Eugene (Chris) Prilaman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Lynda Bennett, three grandchildren: Dustin Howell, Jonathan VanVactor, and Patricia Bennett, four sisters and eight brothers.
Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home in Argos. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 22, at the home. Rev. Sue Irwin will offiicate. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Indiana
