
Lillian L. Hager, 95, Rochester, passed away at 1:45 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, at her residence.
On April 7, 1922, in Chicago, Ill., Lillian L. Mantey was born. She was a treasured daughter of Adolph and Bertha Krueger Mantey. Growing up she shared her childhood with a brother Ronald and a little sister Elaine. In 1940 Lillian graduated from Chicago’s Kelly High School.
The following year, in Chicago on Nov. 29, Lillian and Robert Charles Hager were married. They shared 56 years of life’s adventures. From their union came two handsome sons. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Talented with handiwork, Lillian crocheted gifts of warmth for her family. She was remembered for her cooking and baking, especially her hot apple slices. A woman of great humility, she loved people and made many friends along life’s journey. Lillian was gifted with her abilities to dance. She taught many how to dance. Her favorite and best style was the polka.
Left to cherish Lillian’s memory are two sons: Robert C. Hager and wife Carole of Carol Stream, Ill.; Roger R. Hager and wife Beth of Waconia, Minn.; five grandchildren: Jamie, Brett, Glen, Samantha, Mary; four great grandchildren: Lucas, Mason, Logan, Noah, Vivian; a sister, Elaine E. Zboncak of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Lillian in death are her parents, beloved husband Robert on May 10, 1997, and her brother, Ronald Mantey.
Chaplain John Morgan will officiate services. Burial will follow in the Reichter Cemetery.
