Boys Tennis
A singles sweep carried Northridge past Warsaw 3-2 in boys tennis action.
The Raiders won the Northern Lakes Conference match at Warsaw, which had to be moved indoors to complete due to rain.
The trio of Simon Grevengoed, Gabe Kodino and Cooper Tavernier won in singles play for Northridge.
Revenged beat Colton Lind 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3 and Tavernier topped Nick Marsh 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3.
Kdoino came up with the big win at No. 2 as he rallied to stop Kyler Bartol 5-7, 6-1, 6-0.
Warsaw won on both doubles courts as Bailey Buhrt and Spencer Britton prevailed 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 1 and Nolan Knight and Reuben Williams won 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 at No. 2.
Warsaw drops to 2-1 in NLC play.
Warsaw won the junior varsity match 7-0. Winners for the JV Tigers in singles play were Caleb Williams and Hayden Anderson. Winning in doubles action were the teams of Brian Elliott and Jarett Orr, Jake Kauffman and Michael Ray, Brandon Chan and Kanton Waddle, Nick Rata and Garrett Rodgers and Dawson Vilamma and Gage Lind.
Warsaw plays at Homestead Wednesday night and hosts Canterbury Thursday.
Cross Country
The Warsaw boys cross country team rolled to a big win over host Goshen.
The Tigers placed four runners in the top five to best the RedHawks 20-40 in Northern Lakes Conference competition.
Zeb Hernandez hit the finish line first for the Tigers with a top time of 16:24.
Xavi Ramirez was third overall for Warsaw in 16:56. Lucas Howett was fourth in 17:07 with Taylor Mills fifth in 17:10 for coach Jim Mills’ team.
Sam Lechlitner was eighth overall in a time of 17:46 with Nathaniel Gottschalk 10th in 18:30. Anthony Bass was 15th (18:53) with Tanner Stiver 16th (18:55), Nick Bazzoni 17th (18:56), Ryan Bonebrake 18th (18:56), Jacob Kissling 19th (18:59) and Eric Williamson 20th (19:01).
The Tigers also had Hunter Thompson in 21st, followed by teammates Isaac Mitchell (24th), Austin Fleming (25th), Jack Horoho (26th), Luke Howard (29th), Hunter Metzler (31st), Kennis Dye (34th), Marston Norris (35th), Noah Marshall (37th), Jack May (41st), Jacob Denzer (43rd), Chase Byron (44th), Jacob Dachenhaus (45th), Santos Zamarripa (47th), Jorge Alvarez (49th), Keller Swartzentruber (51st), Ethan Thompson (52nd), Tim Farner (56th), Tyler Barber (57th), Victor Mejia (60th), Nathaniel Taylor (61st), Thane Baker (64th) and Jeremy Campbell (65th).
The Warsaw girls team easily defeated Goshen as well, winning by a 16-47 final.
Sierra Palmer led the way for the Tigers as she captured individual honors.
Mia Beckham was second with Megan Metzler third and Aubrey Hepler fourth for Warsaw. Megan Dawson placed sixth with Hanna Bloemendal seventh and Lex Desenberg eighth.
The Warsaw ladies improve to 2-1 in NLC action.
Warsaw will compete in the IWU Classic on Saturday in Marion.
Volleyball
The Warsaw volleyball team aced its way past host Northridge.
The sweet-serving Tigers racked up 14 service aces to top the Raiders 3-0 in Northern Lakes Conference play.
Star junior Kacy Bragg had five aces and Erin Peugh four to lead the way as Warsaw took the league match easily 25-14, 25-16, 25-19 in Middlebury.
Lexie Day continued her impressive season for the Tigers as the senior standout slammed down a team-high 13 kills in the win.
Katie Swanson blasted seven kills and Hanna Leach had four as Warsaw moved to 3-0 in conference action.
Bragg racked up 21 assists for the winners. Libero Peugh paced the defense with 13 digs, while Elizabeth Schmidt had five. Betty Barnett led the blocking with three total blocks.
The Warsaw junior varsity team beat Northridge 25-17, 25-12 to improve to 9-1.
Gwyn Bellamy paced the JV Tigers with two kills, five digs, five aces and a block. Courtney Chookie had three kills, while Katie Schmidt had seven digs and Kenzie Martz one block.
Warsaw, now 10-4 overall in varsity action, hosts East Noble in a non-conference matchup Wednesday night.
Lakeview Volleyball
The Lakeview Middle School 8th grade volleyball team beat Bethany Christian 25-11, 25-23.
Abbie Porter had 14 assists and two aces for the winners. Tori Jones had two aces and two kills, Anna Gustafson three kills, Kylie Smith four aces, Cora West nine kills and an ace and Emma Christenberry an ace.
The Lakeview 7th grade team topped Bethany Christian 25-17, 25-6 to improve to 6-0.
Caitlyn Patrick had nine aces, while Tessa Graney had five for the winners. Kinsey Atkins had two aces and two kills.
