Triton’s tennis team earned a narrow 3-2 victory over Tippecanoe Valley Tuesday in Bourbon.

Jared Bules’ 6-4, 6-2 victory over Eric Wright at two singles snapped a 2-2 tie and pushed the Trojans to the win.

Trevor Miller and John Gardner’s 6-1, 6-0 win over Connor Frentzel and Jeremy Landis at two doubles gave Triton its first match point, but Garrett Feldman’s 6-0, 6-0 win over Gavin Greer at three singles knotted the meet up at a point apiece. Payton Mills and Dakota Parker claimed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Keygan Mosier and Tyler Heckaman at one doubles to bring the Vikings within a match point of winning the meet, but Carter Kuntz wrapped a 6-1, 6-4 win over Seth Hoffman at one singles, and Bules’ victory over Wright sealed the Trojans’ win as his team moved to 7-5 on the year.

Golf
Delanie Groves tied for low medalist honors, and Triton’s girls golf team topped a four-way Hoosier North Athletic Conference meet with North Judson, Knox and West Central Tuesday.

Groves carded 51 alongside Judson’s Madelyn Schumacher as the Lady Trojans finished with a 221 team score ahead of Judson’s 240, Knox’s 245 and West Central’s 265.

Megan McFarland turned in a 53, Whytnie Miller and Kate Gardner shot 58 and 59, respectively, and Alysha May carded 60 for the Trojans, who improved to 12-5.

Sara Stephenson’s 58 led Knox, while Renee Connor’s 62 paced West Central.

Cross country
Triton hosted Culver Academy in a cross country dual meet in Potawatomi Wildlife Park Tuesday. The Trojans lost 17-44 to CMA, while Baylee McIntire paced the field for an incomplete Lady Trojans squad.

McIntire’s 22-minute flat time led the way in the girls race, while Brianna Wilhite was Triton’s only other entrant as she clocked 23:51 for fourth place.

Marissa Ribera (22:46) was second for CGA, Erin Anderson (22:55) was third, Brennah Ungar (24:27) placed fifth, Lily Gregorash (24:55) was sixth, and Laurel Sullivan (25:14) was seventh for the Lady Eagles.

In the boys’ meet, Josiah Page and Brandon Kitch finished roughly half a minute apart for Triton in fifth and sixth with respective times of 19:56 and 20:21. Ty Ferry (20:59) crossed the line next for the Trojans in 11th, Rusty Reichard (21:34) was 12th, and Brock Watkins (23:22) completed the home team’s score in 20th place.

Callaway Bird was the boys’ winner for CMA with a 17:56 stop. Teammate Shane Pursh (18:06) was next in the chute, followed by Tim Perea (19:23) and Pierce Ellert (19:27), and Michael Perea (20:30) was seventh for CMA.
