Warsaw Cross Country: Beckham Shines, Boys 3rd At Marion
MARION – Mia Beckham had a day to remember Saturday.
The Warsaw cross country standout earned an eighth place finish in the Marion Invitational to pace the Tigers.
Beckham, a senior for coach Matt Campbell’s team, notched the second-fastest 5K time in program history in the process as she hit the finish line in 18:22. The outstanding effort was a 10 second personal best performance for Beckham.
The Warsaw ladies placed 10th in the final team standings with a score of 289.

Emma Bohnenkammer was 77th overall in 20:43 for Warsaw. Angie Sanchez-Vigil was 79th in 20:48, while Carmen Yoder was 86th (21″04), Megan Dawson 99th (21:18), Alex Hermann 104th (21:25) and Taylor Gunter 105th (21:27) for the Tigers.
The Warsaw boys team turned in an outstanding effort with a third place finish. The Tigers posted a score of 116 among the 21 teams in the Elite Division.
No. 8 North Central won the team title at 75 with No. 2 Carroll second at 94.
Zeb Hernandez led the way for coach Jim Mills’ outstanding group with an eighth-place overall finish in a time of 15:47.
Lucas Howett hit the finish line in 13th place for the Tigers in 16:10. Taylor Mills was 22nd in 16:17, with Xavi Ramriez 31sr (16:28), Justin Fleming 48th (16:48), Sam Lechlitner 69th (17:14), Nathaniel Gottschalk 84th (17:29), Nick Bazzoni 113th (17:58), Hunter Thompson 122nd (18:01) and Eric Williamson 144th (18:30).
The Warsaw boys junior varsity team placed fifth out of 18 teams. Top finishers for the JV group included Anthony Bass in 20th place in a time of 18:08, followed by Jacob Kissling in 28th (18:26), Gary Keyes in 33rd (18:36), Tanner Stiver in 36th (18:18) and Ryan Bonebrake in 38th (18:44).
