The NorthWood girls golf team continued its strong play with a third-place finish in the Culver Academy Invitational.

Lake Central shot 327 to earn team honors in the 13-team field at Swan Lake. Host CGA was runner-up at 335 with the Panthers third at 349.

Mackenzie Weaver led the way for NorthWood with a round of 80 to place sixth individually in the field.

Abbie Richner was tied for 10th overall with a round of 88 for the Panthers.

Madison Richner shot an 89, while Abby Slabaugh came in at 92 and Makenna Gall 99 for coach Adam Yoder’s team.

Wawasee shot a 408 to finish in seventh place. Belle Brunner led the Warriors with a 93. Jadison Rostochak had a 103, while Zoe White and Valerie Haessig each had a 106 and Tate Cowan a 109.

Alexis Miestowski of Lake Central was medalist with a 69.

NorthWood will host Mishawaka Wednesday at McCormick Creek. The Panthers will honor seniors Madison Richner and Hope Cripe.

Wawasee hosts Elkhart Central, Fairfield and Whitko on Tuesday night.

Both NorthWood and Wawasee will then play in the NLC Tournament on Saturday at Pretty Lake in Plymouth. The Panthers went 7-0 in league regular-season action.

 

Cross Country

The NorthWood girls cross country team placed 11th in the State Preview Invitational in Terre Haute.

Floyd Central earned team honors among the 23 squads with a team score of 61.

Cathedral was runner-up at 116, with Westfield (118), Fishers (120) and Crown Point (128) rounding out the top five teams.

NorthWood poste a score of 295.

Erica Stutsman led the Panthers as she placed 18th overall in a time of 19:42. Kate Jarvis was next for NorthWood in a time of 21:00.

NorthWood hosts Wawasee and Northridge in conference action Tuesday.
