Kosciusko

Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:

10:44 a.m. Friday, Aug, 25, West Syracuse Road and North Main Street, Milford. Drivers: Robert G. Nichter, 40, North Old Road 15, Warsaw, and Leon W. Garrett, 72, South James Street, Milford. Nichter’s vehicle’s brakes were unresponsive as Nichter attempted to stop at an intersection. Nichter attempted to apply his emergency brake but collided with Garrett’s vehicle before he could stop. Garrett was airlifted to South Bend Memorial hospital with suspected internal injuries. Garrett’s passenger, Kevin Kennedy, 50, Milford, sustained minor injuries to his lower arm. Damage up to $50,000.

3:11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, East CR 1300N, east of North Old SR 15, Milford. Driver: Joseph W. Shepherd, 32, North Main Street, Etna Green. Shepherd struck a deer. Damage up to $5,000.

Warsaw

Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:

2:43 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 302 W. Market St., Warsaw. Drivers: Elizabeth M. Kapp, 37, Monroe Street, Rochester, and Flavio Mar Mendez, 40, South CR 500W, Warsaw. Kapp was parked in a parking spot at Owen’s; Mendez was driving through the lot. Kapp backed into Mendez while backing from the parking spot. Damage up to $5,000.

10:37 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, North Detroit Street and Anchorage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Carlos M. Hermosillo, 17, East CR 200N, Warsaw, and Abigail Gonzalez Delgado, 30, North CR 175E, Warsaw. Hermosillo pulled in front of Delgado’s vehicle while turning east onto Anchorage Road. Damage up to $25,000. Hermosillo has never been issued a valid driver’s license and was issued a citation.

Pierceton

Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:

3:36 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, Old Road 30 and CR 325E, Warsaw. Drivers: Deon M. Dittmar, 44, East James Way Court, Warsaw, and Jesse A. Smith, 41, North CR 850E, Pierceton. Dittmar attempted to do a U-turn and pulled in front of Smith. Damage up to $5,000.

North Webster

Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:

9:38 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, East Armstrong Road, east of North CR 475E, Leesburg. Driver: Maria V. Jernigan, 57, South Harrison Street, North Webster. Jernigan struck a deer. Damage up to $5,000.
