Irish Not In Preseason AP Top 25 Poll
The Notre Dame football team will begin its 2017 campaign right where it ended last season.
No where to be found in the Top 25.
The preseason AP College Football Poll released Monday does not have the Irish. No surprise either for a team that finished 4-8 a year ago.
The preseason AP poll does have four teams who the Irish are scheduled to face this fall, including USC at No. 4, Stanford at No. 14, Georgia at No. 15 and Miami at No. 18.
Michigan, which went 10-3 overall and 7-2 in the Big 10 in 2016, checked in at No. 11 in the poll.
Alabama, which lost to Clemson in the national championship game last season, sits atop the preseason poll. Ohio State is second, followed by Florida State, USC, Clemson, Penn State, Oklahoma, Washington, Wisconsin and Oklahoma State to round out the Top 10.
Alabama will face Florida State as the marquee matchup of the first weekend of the season on Sept. 2.
Notre Dame, which did receive 65 votes in the preseason poll, opens its season by hosting Temple on Sept. 2 at 3:30 p.m. in South Bend.
