BOURBON — Triton’s boys tennis team opened the 2017 season with a narrow 3-2 win over sectional-rival John Glenn Wednesday.

Keygan Mosier and Chase Butler battled back from an opening-set loss to Glenn’s Alex Kruk and Matt Moore at one doubles, and their three-set, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1, victory clinched the Trojans the season-opening win. Tyler Heckaman and Jared Bules earned a 7-5, 6-3 win over Anthony Kaser and Brandon Goble to give Triton its first match point of the evening, and Carter Kuntz cruised to a one singles win over Glenn’s Gabe Weiss in two 6-1 sets.

Freshman John Gardner lost his two singles debut with Alex Ross in two competitive sets, 7-5, 6-4, and Trevor Miller fell 6-3, 6-0 to Trace Jones at three singles for Triton, which opens Hoosier North Athletic Conference play with Knox tonight.

Also Tuesday, the Trojans’ junior varsity fell two matches to one to their Glenn counterparts.
