SOUTH BEND — The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians and Four Winds Casino presented a $85,000 check to Beacon Children’s Hospital.

A special ceremony was held in downtown South Bend Wednesday at the new children’s hospital, which opened in April.

The donation comes from proceeds made during the 2017 Four Winds Invitational in June.

The hospital says the funds will help assist in educating and training area pediatric healthcare professionals.

This is the sixth year of the partnership between the Pokagon Band and Beacon, with donations totaling more than $430,000 to date.
