
PIERCETON — A 30-year-old Pierceton man has been arrested for stealing a family member’s vehicle earlier this month.
Zachery Scott Eyer, 30, 365 N. 850W, Pierceton, was arrested Monday afternoon, Aug. 14, on a charge of auto theft, a level 6 felony. He was held on $5,200 surety and cash bond.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police were notified Saturday, Aug. 5, by Dora Klingerman her 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier was missing. She stated she believed her grandson, Eyer, had taken the vehicle because he knew where the keys were located. She also told police he did not have a valid driver’s license and did not have permission to use her car.
Police spoke with other family members, including his brother, Josh Eyer, the registered owner of the vehicle. Josh Eyer told police he has never given his brother permission to use the vehicle. Police learned on Sunday, Aug. 6, Zachery Eyer had driven the vehicle onto another family member’s property and parked the vehicle. After Zachery Eyer exited the vehicle he ran into the woods.
