Lester “Jay” Brouwer, 79, of Naples, Fla. passed away peacefully on Aug. 9, 2017. 

Born July 29, 1938 in Fort Wayne, Jay was the son of the late Lester Brouwer and Geraldine Smith.  Jay graduated from Syracuse High School in 1956 where he played basketball, baseball and ran track. He attended Wabash College and Purdue University. Jay was an avid golfer, loved his Chicago Cubs and spent many days on the Gulf of Mexico fishing. 

He is survived by his wife, Susan (Klink) Brouwer; siblings, Bonnie (Brouwer) Edelblute, Robert Smith, Greg Smith and Susie (Smith) Johnson; three daughters, Barbara, Kathy and Laurie; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service in Naples, Fla. will be announced.
