Warsaw Golf: Tigers Fifth In Plymouth Invite
PLYMOUTH – The Warsaw girls golf team opened its season with a fifth-place finish in the Plymouth Invitational Wednesday.
Coach Tad Nieter’s team finished with a team score of 211 in the 12-team event hosted by the Pretty Lake Golf Course.
The 17th annual invitational featured a scoring system where the team’s four best scores on each hole were used to determine team scoring and not the players’ overall scores.
Sophomore Grayson Kilburn, in her first varsity event, led Warsaw with a 53.
Junior Izzy Ray had a 55 for the Tigers, while junior Miriam Hagg had a 56. Junior Madelyn Ray added a 57 and junior Delaney Wihebrink a 58 for Warsaw.
Tippecanoe Valley finished with a score of 291 to finish in 11th place on the day.
Jordan Krotke led the Vikings with a 58. Makayla Sandbakken had a 64, while Bethany Johnson turned in a 76 and Kelsey Shafer a 93 for Valley.
Abigail Fishel of Lakeland Christian Academy had a 48.
South Bend St. Joseph won the team title with a score of 171. Northridge was second with an 187, followed by Bremen (185), Mishawaka Marian (206), Warsaw (211), Goshen (217), Elkhart Memorial (224), Plymouth (235), Westview (252), South Central (276), Tippecanoe Valley (291) and Mishawaka (352).
Warsaw hosts Chesterton and LaPorte today at 10 a.m. at the Stonehenge Golf Club.
