John Joseph “Joe” Rex, Argos, died on July 28, at 7:38 a.m. at St. Joseph Health Care Center, Plymouth, following a five  week illness.

Joe was born on Aug. 19, 1956 in South Bend, to Joe H. Rex and Mary Lou (Elliott) Rex and had lived all of his life in the Argos community.

On Nov. 5, 1977 in Argos, he married Tammy Lou Walters together they would have shared 40 years with each other this November.

Joe was a Truck Driver for Shoshone Trucking, Peru. He had also worked for Rex Transportation, Argos, and FedEx, Mishawaka.

Joe had attended Argos United Methodist Church, Argos. He was a member of the Sons of the Legion, Post 68 Argos,; Bowling Leagues and Softball Leagues in Plymouth. He loved playing Euchre.

Joe was a graduate of Argos High School with the class of 1974

Joe is survived by his wife, Tammy Rex, Argos; daughter, Ashley R. Salzar, Argos; sons, Michael T. Rex, Argos, and Derek J. Rex, Plymouth; five grandchildren, Michael Rex Jr., Madison Salzer, Carlie Rex, Corbin Rex and Brody Salzer; father,  Joe H. Rex, Argos; brother, Dale Rex and wife Lori, Argos; sister – Kim Sellers and husband Loren, Bourbon; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Lou Rex and nephew Matthew Alan Rex.

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday Aug. 1, from 4 – 8 p.m. at the Argos United Methodist Church, 570 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday Aug. 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Argos United Methodist Church, 570 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana with Rev. Heather Foley of the Argos United Methodist Church and Rev. Robert E. Rice Jr. of the Walnut Church of the Brethren Church.

Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Indiana.
