Names, More Information Released From This Morning’s Nappanee Crash

KOSCIUSKO — Kosciusko County officials are currently investigating a vehicular traffic crash on CR 1350N at CR 500W near the town of Nappanee. One male subject died from his injuries, and two others are being treated for injuries at area medical facilities.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded this morning at 4:43 a.m. to a reported vehicular crash located at the intersection of CR 1350N and CR 500W. The crash involved a northbound 1999 Honda Accord driven by Mario Gonzalez, 56, Warsaw. Gonzalez was turning onto westbound 1350 North into the path of an eastbound 2014 Ford Van, driven by Alan D Stutzman, 28, Etna Green.
The two vehicles collided in the intersection causing the eastbound Ford Van to roll onto its side continuing eastbound into the path of a westbound 2000 Ford F150, driven by Timothy R. Vanover, 26, Warsaw.
Gonzalez was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment of his injuries which were minor and he is considered to be in good condition. Stutzman sustained head injuries from the crash and was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne for treatment where he is currently considered to be in serious condition. Vanover was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
Officers stated that the crash is still currently under investigation. The Kosciusko County Fatal Team was assisted at the scene by members of the Nappanee Fire Department, Lutheran E.M.S., Nappanee Police Department, the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
