Debra L. Smith, 58, Culver, passed away at home on July 23, 2017.

Deb was born on March 26, 1959 in South Bend, one of three children born to the William R. and Nancy (Morrison) Kersey.

Debbie was a 1977 graduate of Culver Comm. High School.  She fell in love and married Hobart Smith on Oct. 7, 1994 in Culver, Indiana.

Deb was a dedicated employee of the Culver Academies for over 32 years.  She worked at Duplication and was eventually shipping/receiving clerk at the warehouse. She and Hobie loved to take motorcycle trips around the country. She also enjoyed the outdoors and watching the deer and other wildlife around the house.  She also liked going to the casino. She enjoyed being an aunt.

Deb is survived by her husband Hobart Smith; mother Nancy Kersey; sister Victoria (John) Baldwin; brother Rick
(Penny) Kersey; nephew William Baldwin; and step-nephew Chad Becker; all of Culver, and step-niece Amanda
Baldwin of Logansport; and many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father William Kersey.

A time to gather with the family will be held at the Odom Funeral Home, Culver from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 27. James Harper will officiate funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday, July 28 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Burr Oak Cemetery.
