
Rebecca J. Damron, 60, Larwill, died Thursday morning, July 20, 2017 at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
She was born Dec. 4, 1956 in Wolf Lake, a daughter of Garland V. and Joan (Werstler) Myers. Her formative years were spent in Etna Troy Township, Whitley County. She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1976 and attended Purdue University.
On Sept. 23, 1978 she was united in marriage to Gary S. Damron. They made their first home at Ridinger Lake then moved to Pierceton. For the past 25 years, they have made their home north of Larwill.
Rebecca was a server at American Table Restaurant for the past 30 years and was a teacher’s aide at Pierceton Elementary School for the past 10 years.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Gary; three children, Joann (Nathan) Huffer of Warsaw, Vester (Jill) Damron of Fort Wayne and Stephanie Damron of Columbia City; seven grandchildren, Chloe & Logan Smith, Lyndon & Amelia Damron, Hannah, Mahalya & Zaiden Springer; her mother and three brothers, Joan Myers, Galen Myers, Glenn Myers and Lester Myers, all of Larwill.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, R. Duane Myers.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the final expense account payable to Smith & Sons Funeral Home.
