
WARSAW — Hunter Magiera, Syracuse, and Lacey Helfers, Leesburg, were crowned the 2017 Kosciusko County 4-H King and Queen at the County 4-H Public Fashion Revue and Achievement Awards Night Thursday, July 6. Valerie Messmore, Pierceton, was crowned 2017 Kosciusko County 4-H Princess.
Magiera is the son of Brent Sabin and Renee Tom. He is a 10-year 4-H member and a member of the Milford Helping Hands 4-H Club. His 4-H record includes dairy calf feeder steers and dairy steers. Magiera graduated from Wawasee High School in May and will be attending Purdue University this fall to major in agriculture systems management.
Helfers is the daughter of Jeff and Michelle Helfers. During her nine year 4-H career, she has taken photography, fine arts, dairy foods, poultry, jr. leaders, entomology, fashion revue, wearable art, creative writing and miscellaneous crafts. She is a member of the Milford Helping Hands 4-H Club and the Kosciusko County 4-H Jr. Leaders. Helfers served two terms as vice-president and was also the Jr. Leaders’ recreation leader and secretary. She will be a senior at Wawasee High School this fall and plans to attend college to major in visual arts education and minor in theatre production and design.
Messmore is the daughter of Brent and Renea Messmore. She is completing her eighth year of 4-H. Her 4-H projects include horse and pony, dairy steers, dairy calf feeder steers, dairy and sheep. She is a member of the Horse & Pony Club and the Pierceton Hayseeds 4-H Club. Messmore has served as her club’s vice-president, health & safety leader, refreshment coordinator and served two terms as treasurer. She will be a junior at Warsaw Community High School this fall. Following graduation, Messmore plans to attend either Butler or Purdue to major in accounting.
