Norma J. Freed, 87, Nappanee, died at 2:30 p.m., Friday, June 30, at Lake City Place in Warsaw, where she had been a resident for one year.

She was born Aug. 18, 1929, at home in Nappanee to Orval and Ethel ( Gwinn) Ralston. On Sept. 6, 1947, she married Warren J. Freed. He preceded her in death Sept. 21, 1992.

Mrs. Freed was a 1947 graduate of Nappanee High School. She lived her lifetime in this area and in the same home in Nappanee for 65 years.  She was a homemaker. Norma loved her family and enjoyed having her grandkids at her home. She was a member of the First Church of God and the Missionary Society at the church. She was a former member of the Nappanee Smokey Stover’s Fire Auxiliary.

Surviving are her children, Cheryl (Garry) Rose, Nappanee, Kevin L. (Roxanne )Freed, Palm Harbor, Florida,  grandchildren,  Patrick Rose, Rebecca Davis, Allison Freed, Jonathon Freed, Kent Freed, Stephanie Jones, Brooke Carrell, Drew Freed; 14 great grandchildren;  and sister, Beverly Ritter, Nappanee.

She was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Debra Freed, brother, Ray Ralston, and brother-in-law, Chuck Ritter.

Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, July 5, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service, which will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 6. at First Church of God.  Rev. Sam Bennett will officiate  and burial will be in Bremen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to First Church of God for missions.
