KOSCIUSKO COUNTY – The Indiana Department of Transportation has announced that traffic will be restricted to one lane on SR 15 over the Tippecanoe River on or after Monday, June 12, weather permitting. Bridge reconstruction will take place just north of the City of Warsaw, between CR East 350N/Shelden Street and CR West 400N.

On or after Monday, June 12, motorists can expect to see a temporary traffic signal erected at each end of the bridge to alternate vehicles over the 12-foot wide single-lane bridge. At that time, contractors will restrict traffic to one lane down the center of the bridge. This will allow the contractors to construct shoulder pavement widening to accommodate added traffic loads.

Once the shoulders are constructed, one-lane traffic will be shifted to the southbound side of the bridge while contractors work to reconstruct the northbound lane.

Later this fall, traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed northbound lane while contractors complete the reconstruction of the southbound lane.

Throughout the duration of the project Monoquet Road and Clearwater Drive will be closed at the intersection of SR 15.

Drivers should be prepared for stopped traffic and delays in the area. INDOT reminds drivers to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through an active construction zone.

Motorists are encouraged to take an alternate route. Signage will direct drivers to the state’s official route of U.S. 6 to SR 19 to US 30.

Restrictions on the SR 15 bridge over Tippecanoe River will remain through early November. The contract was awarded to Anlaan Corporation for $1.1 million.
