WARSAW — During the Warsaw Board of Works meeting, Chief of Police Scott Whitaker announced rank restructuring for the Warsaw Police Department and the retirement of Sergeant David Morales, School Resource Officer. 

As part of the rank restructuring, phase two consists of elevating the three current shift sergeants Chuck Hodges, Steve Rockey and Clay Layne to shift lieutenants.  A promotion board was recently held and recommended the promotion of Corporals Gordon Allen and Lewis Fuller to the rank of shift Sergeant.

The rank restructuring accounted for a $22,564 increase to the 2017 police budget.

Sergeant David Morales, School Resource Officer, will retire from the department on July 22  Sergeant Morales will be retiring after 28 1/2 years of service with WPD, 18 years as Warsaw High School Resource Officer.  Morales has accepted a position with Parkview Health Police Department.  

The Board of Works approved the promotion of Patrol Officer Ryan Coble to the the rank of shift Corporal during the meeting.  Coble will be filling the Corporal position being vacated by Corporal Brandon Zartman, who will be replacing Sergeant Morales as Warsaw Community High School Resource Officer for the next school year.
