WARSAW — Students at Warsaw Community High School have gained hands-on learning through the Building Trades program. The Building Trades program at the Warsaw Area Career Center held an open house Tuesday, May 30, to showcase a home students helped construct throughout the school year.

Thirteen students, under the direction of instructor Eric Taylor, worked on a home owned by Trent Smith. Students were involved in framing, roofing, siding, window and door installation, insulation, dry walling, painting, trimming and concert work.

The home is a one-story ranch style house, located in Cherry Creek Manor, Warsaw, with approximately 2,500 finished square feet. The home is equipped with a high efficiency gas furnace and central air.

Homeowner Smith said, “I would like to thank Eric Taylor and the high school students who have worked hard all year to build the house I will call my home. In about one month, I will be married to Meredith Hollar. We could not be more grateful to start our lives in an amazing home that we will love for years to come.”

The students that worked on the home are Seth Conley, Nicolas Dorman, Ruben Esparza, Chase Hamilton, Zachary Howard, Ian Jones, Elian Mejia, Frank Porraz, Tomas Rivera, Hunter Scott, Brady Stout, Juan Tepo and Cole Wooldridge.
