Sterl Stamper, 74, Wabash, died at 11:23 a.m., Sunday, May 28, 2017 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born May 15, 1943 in Sandy Hook, Ky to Verl and Plina (Bowling) Stamper.

Sterl retired from Wabash Alloys in 1990. He married Jeannie (Caudill) Brewer on October 9, 1991 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of Wabash Chapel Worship Center and the Boilermakers Union. He enjoyed picking berries, gardening, the Indianapolis Colts, and loved watching his grandchildren at their sporting events. Church was Sterl’s life, he loved the Lord with all his heart and also loved his church family.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie Stamper of Wabash, four children, Rick Stamper of Michigan, Steve (Billie Jo) Stamper, Treccia (Greg) Proffitt, and Terry (Michelle) Brewer all of Wabash, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three sisters, Sis Pfliderder and Alice Music both of Mansfield, Ohio, and Patty Taylor of Ashland, Kentucky, and brother, Donnie Stamper of Bucyrus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stanley Stamper.

There will be a celebration of Sterls life at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 1 at Wabash Chapel Worship Center, 839 Mill Street, Wabash with Rev. Charles Osborne, Terry Brewer, and Marshall Staten officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, May 31, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash.

Preferred memorial is Wabash Chapel Worship Center.
