Lillian L. Bowles, 94, Plymouth, formerly of Lansing, Mich., passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 25, 2017 in Miller’s Merry Manor nursing home in Plymouth.

Lillian was born on Aug. 16, 1922 in Plymouth, to Eli and Ella (Hammel) Bowles. She was a graduate of Plymouth High School. Lillian retired from the Michigan State Police Lansing Post as a dispatch operator in 1985. She enjoyed knitting and playing Canasta, but her greatest joy was time she spent spoiling her nieces and nephews. Lillian was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church of Plymouth.

Lillian is survived by her sister, Mildred Grolich of Plymouth; several nieces and nephews; Lillian is preceded in passing by her parents, five brothers, Merritt, John, Bill, Tom and Joe Bowles; three sisters, Margaret Goodrich, Catherine Hisey and Helen Meister.

The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Bowles family. A graveside service will be held at the New Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel on Tuesday, May 30 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Eric Ahlemeyer officiating. Burial will follow the service.
