Local Memorial Day Ceremonies

The following is a list of Memorial Day weekend events happening in and around Kosciusko County:

Etna Green

  • Service at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 28, at Etna Green Church of Christ and a memorial service afterward at 10:30 a.m. at the cemetery. Joseph Lampton of Etna Green United Methodist Church is speaker.

Leesburg

  • The Leesburg community will be having a Memorial Day parade and service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 29. Participants must be in place by 10:15 a.m. There will be a flag-raising ceremony by the Boys Scouts before the parade at Leesburg Town Hall. The parade will proceed from town hall south of Pearl Street then west in Prairie Street to Leesburg Cemetery.

Mentone

  • Bell Museum will host a Memorial Day service at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 28, at Mentone Cemetery.

Milford

  • Milford will have a parade at 10 a.m. Monday, May 29 and a service immediately after at Milford Cemetery.

North Webster

  • North Webster will have a service at 9 a.m. Monday, May 29, at Thorn Cemetery, followed by a service 9:30 a.m. at Salem Cemetery, and a service at Mock Cemetery at 10 a.m. A parade is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. ending at North Webster Cemetery with an additional service to follow.

Pierceton

  • A parade will be at 10:45 a.m. Monday, May 29, starting at the fire station.

Syracuse

  • Syracuse will have a parade at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 29; line-up starting at noon at Syracuse Elementary School. A service at Syracuse Cemetery will follow the parade.

Silver Lake

  • Silver Lake Lions Club will be hosting a service at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, at Lakeview Cemetery.

Warsaw

  • The annual Memorial Day services, conducted by John C. Peterson American Legion Post 49 and James W. Sittler Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, will take place at 10:55 a.m. Monday, May 29, at Oakwood Cemetery. Ken Locke will give the address, followed by a roll call of deceased veterans.
  • The Northern Indiana Lakes Festival Will Include a Memorial Day ceremony at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 28 in Central Park. This ceremony is an effort to commemorate the holiday, honor veterans, current military and fallen soldiers, and serve as one of the only Memorial Day celebrations in the Warsaw area. Warsaw Community High School JROTC members will perform a flag ceremony and play TAPS on the bugle.
  • The Chapman Lake Conservation Association will be hosting their own Memorial Day Ceremonies. A weekend breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27. A Luminary night will be held at sundown on Sunday, May 28 to salute the men and women who protect our freedom. Place a luminaria (white paper bag and candle) along your seawall or property. You may make your own luminarias or buy them at the breakfast on May 27.
