SYRACUSE — Mother Nature decided not to cooperate this weekend for the 29th annual Cruisin’ Cuse, bringing heavy rains to the area. As a result, the Cruise -In set for Friday night, May 19, was canceled, and the Cruisin’ Cuse ended earlier than anticipated.
Awards were handed out around 12:30 p.m. and the cruise around the lake was cancelled.
Tammy Vandal of Wawasee Kiwanis, which sponsors the car show, said this was the first time there was rain all day for the event. “Usually in the past, we’ve had it early or late in the day,” she said. Fellow Kiwanian Larry Martindale said this was the first time he remembered awards being presented inside.
Approximately 50 car owners turned out for the car show which was held at the Syracuse Community Center. The cold, damp weather kept spectators away as well.
In addition to the car show, the Kiwanis also held a silent auction, had drawings for door prizes and 50/50 drawings.
