HOF Coach Kerrn Retires From Mat

Jimtown SportsELKHART – Hall of Fame wrestling coach Mark Kerrn has decided to call in a coaching career.

Kerrn, who has been the wrestling coach at Jimtown High School since 1987, has retired from an illustrious run in the charge of the Jimmies.

Kerrn was 407-72-1 in his 30 seasons guiding Jimtown on the mat. His teams won 16 conference, 10 sectional and four regional championships. The Jimmies were Class 2-A state runner-up in the team finals in 2015-16.

Kerrn, who was also a longtime assistant coach for the Jimtown football program, coached 46 state qualifiers. A trio of Jimmies were state runner-ups under his guidance and Nick Crume won a state championship in 2013.

Kerrn also coached his son Kenny to a pair of finishes in the State Finals as the younger Kerrn placed fourth and seventh.

Kerrn plans to continue to teach at Jimtown High School.
