
NORTH WEBSTER — The lazy days of summer will soon be here and what better way to spend a sunny afternoon than reading under the shade tree or out on the lake. Get your summer reading supplies at the Friends of the North Webster Library Book Sale Thursday-Saturday, May 25-27 at the North Webster Community Center. There will be hundreds of good quality, gently used books for sale at low prices. Shoppers will find fiction and nonfiction in all genres and for all ages. In addition to books, a huge selection of music CDs will be available along with DVDs and puzzles.
Sales hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday. All proceeds from the book sale will go to support the work of North Webster Community Public Library.
Tickets are currently on sale for a Taste of Germany, 5-7 p.m. Saturday, June 10 in the North Webster Community Center. This Friends of the Library event features German food, culture, history, and music. Watch a traditional German dance, sample German food, explore German inventions and learn about famous German people. Door prizes are included. It is fun and educational for the whole family. Tickets cost $8 and must be purchased in advance no later than June 5. Tickets are available at the library or from any Friends of the Library member.
Learn about fiber arts at Beverly Earnhart’s Fiber Arts presentation 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 22. She will explore different animal fibers used for clothing and wearable art and explain the process of getting the fiber from the animal and turning it into yarn and clothing.
If you want to learn about different pie recipes (and who doesn’t), come to Revolving Recipe Round-Up at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 23. Everyone is asked to prepare a pie and bring it to share along with the recipe. If you’re a pie lover, you won’t want to miss this month’s Revolving Recipe Round-Up. You’ll leave with a full tummy and a smile on your face.
At 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, is the last Crafts and Stories for the school year. Bring the kids to the Youth Department after school and do a fun craft while listening to Mrs. Pam read stories. The Youth Summer Reading Program starts June 1 and is jammed packed with fun activities each week. Stop by the Youth Services Desk for a complete schedule of events or visit the library’s website.
