Harrison Ladies, Jefferson Boys Reign In Elementary Track

Warsaw SportsWARSAW – The Harrison girls track team and the Jefferson boys squad took home top honors Friday night from the Warsaw City Elementary Track Championships contested at the Tiger Athletic Complex at WCHS.

The Harrison girls piled up 97 points to outdistance runner-up Eisenhower (89) and third-place finisher Washington (83) for the girls title.

The Jefferson boys totaled 82 points to edge past second-place Washington, which finished with 78 points.

The duo of Rylee Burns and Bonnie Hampton were each double individual winners to highlight the girls’ competition.

Burns from team champion Harrison won the 400 in a top time of 1:05.84 and also took top honors in the 800 in a winning effort of 2:34.51.

Hampton, who attends Sacred Heart, won the 50-meter dash in 7.48. She also won the long jump with a top leap of 13-9.50.

Leviticus Sales of Claypool won the 100 in a time of 14.29. Mikayla Minnaugh of Harrison was first in the 200 in 29.08. Eisenhower won the 4 X 100 relay event in 1:00.01 and Harrison was first in the 4 X 200 relay race in 2:02.91.

Rachel Berelsman of Eisenhower took first in the shot put with a throw of 24-06. Katie McKibbin of Warsaw Christian won the high jump as she cleared 4-9.

The boys side also featured a pair of double individual winners in Drew Heckaman and Corbitt Holland.

Beckman of Washington won both the 50 and 100-meter dashes in times of 7.42 and 14.08 respectively.

Holland of Jefferson won the 200 in 28.11 and the 800 in 2:29.55.

Jonny Burritt of Jefferson won the 400 in a time of 1:04.93. Lincoln won the 4 X 100 relay in 1:01.04 and Harrison took top honors in the 4 X 200 relay in 2:02.30.

German Flores of Sacred Heart won the shot put with a toss of 29-05.5. Levi Perry of Harrison claimed first in the lone jump with a jump of 14-09. Seth Martin of Warsaw Christian won the high jump by clearing 4-9.

Tyna-Jones Quinet of Harrison was first in the Mixed 1,600 run in a time of 6:34.47.

Sacred Heart was fourth in the final girls team standings with 43 points. Lincoln was fifth with 42, followed by Claypool (38), Warsaw Christian (36), Jefferson (20), Leesburg (8) and Madison (4).

Harrison was third in the boys standings with 69.5 points. Sacred Heart placed fourth with 50, followed by Lincoln (42), Madison (38.5), Leesburg (36.5), Washington (23), Eisenhower (21.5) and Claypool (19).
