Don Swartzentruber

WARSAW — Prepare for a studio shake down. On May 22 at 7 p.m. at Lakeland Art Center Don Swartzentruber, MFA will talk about the process of having your work scrutinized for art shows and portfolio reviews.

Since 1993 Swartzentruber has helped thousands of students from IPFW, Grace College and Warsaw High School build portfolios. He did an internship at the Phyllis Kind Gallery in Chicago, was certified with “The Artist in Business” program at the University of Delaware and has juried the Village of Winona Art Fair, the Indiana Arts Commission, and other venues. He will be the guest judge for the Annual Lakeland Art Center Juried show this year.

Swartzentruber studied animation at the Kubert School, Art Education at Grace College, and completed a Master of Fine Arts degree at Vermont College of Norwich University. His experiences in the art world range from painting exhibitions coast to coast, to illustration work on CDs and comics. He first discovered the joy of teaching as the Art Director at an east coast TV station. He is currently making art with the support of his third Indiana Arts Commission Grant.

Do not bring your portfolios or artwork. Do bring a notebook and your questions. Join us for critical look at your studio practice and the artifacts you create. Lakeland Art Center and Gallery, 302 E Winona Ave, Warsaw, Ind.
