Baseball
The NorthWood baseball team kept up its winning ways Friday night.
The Panthers, in the process, kept their place undefeated and atop the Northern Lakes Conference.
Drake Gongwer fired a gem on the hill to pace the hosts past Plymouth 1-0 in a key matchup of league powers.
Senior Gongwer went the distance for the Panthers as he recorded 14 strikeouts on the night.
NorthWood, which improved to 12-1 overall and moved to 6-0 in league play, plated the game’s lone run in the home half of the first inning. Vincent Herschberger drove in the only run of the contest.
Brant Mast had a pair of hits and Matt Dutkowski a double for NorthWood.
NorthWood hosts Bremen Saturday and returns to NLC action at Goshen Monday night.
Tennis
The NorthWood tennis team was blanked by Plymouth Friday evening, 5-0.
Lanae Singleton, Erin Hunter and Ashley Harrell were all winners for the Pilgrims on the singles courts while No. 1 doubles team McKenzie Sheets and Kendall Dreibelbis and No. 2 doubles team Mary Blake and Leah Smith were also victorious for Plymouth.
