WARSAW — The Symphony of the Lakes, the professional symphony branch of Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, will present its concert “Once Upon a Symphony” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 29 at the Winona Heritage Room, 901 Park Avenue, Winona Lake.

The concert will feature Symphony No. 40 in G Minor by Mozart, as well as Sergei Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf,” narrated by Terry White and “Spring” from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons featuring Maestro and Conductor Tom Stirling on violin.

Pianist Michelle Tapp, senior at Penn High School and winner of the 2017 Young Artist Competition, will be performing Piano Concerto in A Minor by Robert Schumann.

Tapp, who began piano lessons at age 4, states, “I’m really excited to bring this concerto to life with a full symphony of professional musicians. It’ll be a new experience and I can’t wait to see what kind of music we’ll make together.”

Tapp is the daughter of Ling and Steve Tapp, Granger.

A food drive will be featured at the April 29 event as part of the League of American Orchestra’s ‘Orchestras Feeding America’ initiative. Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items to donate to the organization’s efforts to fight hunger. Donations will be distributed locally to Combined Community Services and Fellowship Missions.

Over the past eight years, Orchestras Feeding America has seen over 450 orchestras from across the country collect and donate nearly 500,000 pounds of food.
