AKRON – Facing adversity, Tippecanoe Valley’s softball team resisted and came away with a come-from-behind 10-4 win Friday against Plymouth.

Trailing 4-1 going into the bottom of the sixth after Plymouth posted two runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings, Valley responded with six runs in the bottom half of the fifth and three more in the sixth to change the tide.

A pair of bases loaded walks and an RBI single by Alex Gomez highlighted the fifth for Valley. Abby Betten capped the rally in the sixth with a three-run homer. Betten, Gomez and Kirsten Yoder all had two hits for the Vikings, and Yoder, Betten and Amy Baca all scored two runs apiece.

Sydney Howard went the distance for Valley, giving up two earned runs and fanning two.

Zoe Kielman had a two-run single to lead the Pilgrims, but took the loss giving up the final six runs.

Valley gets its first win (1-3) ahead of a doubleheader Saturday at John Glenn.
