Girls Tennis
Triton held court Wednesday against local rival Tippecanoe Valley, winning 4-1 in girls tennis.
All three of Triton’s singles courts were victorious, with matching 6-1, 6-0 winners from Kolbie Mason and Quinn Downing at one and two singles over Aerin Shewmen and Lea Stouder. At No. 3, Siera Sauer topped Makenna Bradley 6-2, 6-0.
The No. 1 doubles tandem of Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross swept Kennedy Niedbalski and Tiphanie Hodge love and love. Valley’e lone win came at No. 2 doubles, where America Baca and Makayla Sandbakken outlasted Kendra Morris and Kaylene Slabaugh 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
Triton moves to 2-0 with the win, Valley losing its season opener Wednesday.
Both teams play Thursday, Triton hosting North Judson in a rain makeup game with a 5:30 p.m. start, and Valley will host Knox at 5 p.m.
Boys Golf
Triton picked up a pair of dual wins Wednesday night, shooting a 174 to best both LaVille and Bremen at Swan Lake in Plymouth.
Triton needed the low round to get past LaVille, which shot a 179 while Bremen was well back at 210. Triton’s JV slid in third at 189.
Leading the varsity cause for Triton was Braden Kreft with a round of 39, which tied for medalist honors on the night. Isaac Wall came in with a 41, and bringing up the train were Beau Hepler and Bryce Swihart at 47 and Mace Eads at 48.
On the junior side for Triton, Spencer Johnson shot a 40, followed by Chase Butler at 47, Ross Johnson at 48, Brock Watkins at 54 and Brendan Ray at 57.
Triton will tee it up again Thursday at Rozella against Culver.
