LIGONIER — The Whitko girls tennis team opened its season Tuesday night with a strong 4-1 victory over West Noble.

Morgan Keirn defeated Megan Godfrey 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles while it was Delaney Keirn defeating Kellie Waring 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Jackie Werstler downed Kaity VanVorst at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-0. The Whitko No. 1 doubles team of Gracie and Jessica Hook lost a hard fought match 6-1, 6-4 while No. 2 doubles partners Jenna VanCuren and Manon Sonneville won in three sets, 6-2, 6-7(2-7), 6-3.

The JV squad fell 4-1. Natalie Iholtz defeated Maria Guajardo 6-2 at No. 1 singles for the Wildcats

Whitko (1-0) is are in action Wednesday at Macanoquah with the start slated for 5 p.m.
