SOFTBALL

The Whitko softball team competed at the Bluffton Invite Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats split their appearance with a win over Bluffton and loss to Central Noble.

In game one, a 6-5 loss to the Cougars, Ellie Snep recorded six strikeouts while Anna Ousley and Emalee Duggins each had two hits.

In game two the Wildcats beat Bluffton 12-11. The game featured Shi Bradley’s first game in the circle for the ‘Cats and she would also knock her first career home run. Ousley again had a pair of hits for Whitko.

Whitko (2-1) plays at Fort Wayne South Side Tuesday night.

BASEBALL 

The Whitko baseball nine hosted Bluffton Saturday in South Whitley and enjoyed a 2-0 sweep of the Tigers.

In game one it was Whitko slipping by 8-7 thanks to six RBIs from Drew Bradford who finished 4-6 in the opening game. Bradford also picked up the win with 1.1 innings of work and four strikeouts.

The ‘Cats blanked and run-ruled Bluffton in game two, 10-0. Alex Robbins pitched all five innings for the ‘Cats and recorded four strikeouts. Alex Bechtold was 3-3 at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Whitko (5-0) will travel to Wawasee on Tuesday.
