basketballMISHAWAKA – It didn’t take Steve Scott long to return to the coaching ranks.

Scott, who resigned in late March as the girls basketball coach at Elkhart Memorial, has been hired as the new girls basketball coach at Mishawaka Marian High School.

Scott spent the last six seasons at Memorial, where he posted a 73-60 record. He guided the Crimson Chargers to a Class 4-A sectional title in 2012. Memorial posted a 13-10 overall mark and finished 5-2 in the Northern Lakes Conference during the 2016-17 campaign.

Scott is 174-143 in 14 seasons overall, including previous coaching stints at South Bend Clay and South Bend Adams.

Scott replaces Tyler Dendy, who guided Marian to a 14-9 record in his only season there. The Knights had just two seniors this past season and are slated to return four of their top five scorers, including standout guard Meghan Urbnski next season.

Marian posted a 7-5 mark in the Northern Indiana Conference during the 2016-17 season. The Knights lost 42-41 to South Bend St. Joseph in a first-round sectional game. St. Joe went on to win the Class 3-A state championship.
