WARSAW — Combined Community Services partnered with the Food Bank of Northern Indiana to bring the mobile food pantry to Warsaw yesterday morning, March 21.

While it is common to find food pantries offering nonperishable food items, the mobile pantry offers residents perishable food items, including produce, grains and dairy. Their goal is to provide healthy and nutritious items to clients.

The food bank was open at CCS for roughly two hours, starting just before 11 a.m. Within that two hour period, 174 people were served.

“Today, 14 percent of the residents of northern Indiana are food insecure. They don’t know when they will eat their next meal. This epidemic is silent.  When all of our residents have food security and access to nutritious foods, we will be even better physically and mentally prepared to take on life’s challenges,” states Food Bank’s website.

Although the Food Bank’s mobile pantry was only available briefly, see online for more information on CCS’s Dane’s Family Pantry.
