Susie Stamper passed away peacefully, March 9, 2017, in her home. She was surrounded by her loving daughter and beloved granddaughters.
Susie was born on Feb. 23, 1943 to Fred and Dorothy (Woodling) Hover in Warsaw, where she was a lifetime resident. After losing her parents as a young girl, she and her siblings were raised by their grandparents, Walter and Bessie Hover.
She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1961. That same year, she married Donald Stamper; together, they had three children. Although no longer married, they remained close friends through the years.
She worked at Kimble Glass for many years, later working at Depuy, where she retired in 2005.
Known as a very social and fun loving person, Susie was a volunteer and member of the American Legion for many years, as well as a member of the Moose Lodge, and the Eagles – all in Warsaw. She volunteered in concessions for Young Tiger Football and attended the Kosciusko County Senior Activity Center.
Having a true love for life, she loved her family, and had many, very good, close friends. She always enjoyed the simple things in life: Country music, a great view of the outdoors, BINGO, going to the casino, garage sale adventures, watching college basketball, and Cubs Baseball. Before retiring, she was presented the opportunity to meet & greet a childhood idol, Ernie Banks. This remained a very fond memory from her days working at Depuy.
Susie is survived by her sister, Myra (LaMar) Rogers, Warsaw; brother, Dennis (Pat) Hover, Warsaw; two sons, Mark (Beverly) Stamper, Elkhart; and DeeJay (companion, LuAnn) Stamper, Warsaw; daughter, Kassie (Dale) Tennant, Leesburg; seven grandchildren: Bryan (Misty) Stamper, Trent (Lilli) Stamper, Holly (Brandon) Tackett, Katie Stamper, all of Warsaw; Quinten (companion, Brette) Stamper, Atwood; Teal Stamper and Adrianna (Annie) Snyder, both of Warsaw. She is also survived by four step-grandchildren: Katie Tennant, Orlando Fla.; Andrea (Joe) Ward, North Webster; Emily (James) Willett, South Whitley; and Alisha (Jay) Wade, Elkhart; and by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a step-granddaughter, Tiffani Miller of Elkhart; and a great-granddaughter, Adalin Paige Stamper of Warsaw.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 17 at Titus Funeral Home, 2000 East Sheridan Street, Warsaw. A funeral service celebrating Susie’s life will be held on Saturday at 11 AM in the Funeral Home with calling one hour prior. Reverend Dave Hummel will officiate the service. Her final resting place will be in Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery.
Donations in Susie Stamper’s honor can be made to Riley Children’s Hospital, 702 Barnhill Dr., Indianapolis, IN 46202.
