WARSAW — Demolition of the old Lincoln Elementary School building has begun.

It’s been nearly two years since a referendum passed to fund to a new LES building. Construction of the school was completed in January, allowing students to return from winter break to their new school.

Now the old school is being demolished after more than 50 years have passed since it opened its doors to students in 1957.

The new facility was built after it became clear the old building was not up to par. Poor wiring, plumbing and space issues were cited as reasons for the necessity of a new school.

Once demolition of the building is complete, the area will be paved and used as a pick-up area for students at the new LES building.
